EU Talent Pool – frequently asked questions

Short answers to the questions we hear most about the EU Talent Pool and work in the Netherlands.

Last checked: 26 October 2026
When can I register on the EU Talent Pool?
Not yet. The regulation has applied since 1 June 2026, but the European Commission is still building the platform and expects it to be fully operational by the end of 2027.
Does a match on the platform give me a Dutch visa?
No. A match or a job offer gives no right of entry or residence. You still apply for a Dutch residence permit, such as the highly skilled migrant permit or the EU Blue Card, through the IND.
Will Dutch employers be on the platform?
Only if the Netherlands decides to take part. The Dutch government has left that decision to a next cabinet. A country must notify the EU at least nine months before it starts.
I already live in the Netherlands. Can I use it?
No. The platform is only for jobseekers who live outside the EU. If you are already in the Netherlands, for example as a student or partner, you may be able to change to a work permit. We check your options in a free call.
Does registration cost money?
No. The EU Talent Pool is free for jobseekers, and employers or agencies may not charge you any recruitment fee.
Can the platform be used to hire trainees or apprentices?
No. Traineeships and apprenticeships are excluded from the EU Talent Pool.
